This time last weekend Sam and I were waking up in paradise, we stayed in the luxurious Pillows Anna Van den Vondel Hotel which was heavenly and spent the weekend exploring the beautiful city of Amsterdam.
So on Friday morning we got our suitcase, passports and headed off to Manchester Airport for the 7:10am flight, it feels incredible leaving your every day life behind for a few days just pressing pause and enjoying something new, the only stresses we had were trying to navigate ourselves through the windy roads of Amsterdam and attempting to understand the basics of the Dutch language.
I have been to the Netherlands before and I think it’s one of the most beautiful countries in Europe, I have yet to explore the rest of Europe but I just know it’s going to be hard to beat the Netherlands for me because..
- The roads are flat, don’t get me wrong I do love a good ol’ English hill for a Sunday country walk with your pup, but the our roads in England are shocking, our pot holes seriously needs sorting out and there wasn’t a single pot hole in Amsterdam it was amazing.
- That old historic touch, what I love most about Amsterdam is that it hasn’t been ruined by modern buildings, they’ve kept the history and that’s what makes it special for me.
- Clean, it’s an eco – friendly place, they are so hygienic and it really stands out for me, it was nice not to be surrounded by rubbish, yes most people smoke weed there but that didn’t bother me because it’s what Amsterdam is known for and everywhere was just fresh.
- Food, the food in Amsterdam is on the next level, everything even down to the strawberries just tasted amazing, they make most things from scratch as well.
So when we arrived in Amsterdam our shuttle bus took us to where we were staying for the next few days, a beautiful hotel just outside of the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam but also just around the corner from the beautiful Vondelpark.
Upon arrival at Pillows Anna Van den Vondel Hotel we were greeted by a lovely lady who offered us a nice refreshing drink and spoke to us about Amsterdam and gave us a complimentary map and circled the hotspots for us which we greatly appreciated.
The staff and house keeping were also lovely and polite, I just felt welcomed all time.
The room was beautiful and so luxurious, there was so many little touches that made your stay extra special from slippers and a dressing gown to your own journal, not only the little things you have an amazing walk in shower which I stayed in for a little too long hehe, a safe if you are bringing along your prized possessions, a radio with blue tooth and to top it off your own modern lighting and air con system. You will not be disappointed with your stay at Pillows.
Next is the days out, I will be doing blog posts on every individual day out, Sam and I got a lot done whilst we were in Amsterdam so I thought doing posts on each day would be better.
We did get a Amsterdam City Card whilst we were there but I have talked about it City Card a previous blog post.
And that’s it for today’s blog post, I hope you’ve enjoyed it, eye and out for the rest of the blog posts about Amsterdam.
